HTCA Podcast #2 - Mike Ruley

(l-r, David Torline, Dolly Samson, Mike Ruley, Ron Montgomery)
Welcome to the second HTCA podcast. This time we were fortunate to have Mike Ruley, CEO of Hawaiian Telcom talk to us at the November 16th HTCA luncheon. In his presentation, entitled, "Road to the Future", Mike reviewed the state of telecommunications in Hawaii before Hawaiian Telcom entered the market in May 2005 and how the company is in the midst of transitioning from a regional operation within a multinational corporation to become a Hawaii-based corporation focused solely on the islands. Mike also called up members of his executive staff to talk about Hawaiian Telcom's wireless service, broadband Internet service and the creation of independent backoffice systems to support their customer base in Hawaii.

Nice job on the recording, Burt! Mike Ruley and his team gave a very interesting perspective on telecomm in Hawaii and where Hawaiian Telecom is headed. It sounds like we'll have even more innovative services to choose from!
Unfortunately I was unable to attend in person, but I really enjoyed Mike's talk and walked through the service descriptions online while he (and his colleagues) went through the various presentations. HT's reinvigorated homegrown focus sounds pretty exciting.
